Some spots in a yard just get worn down over time. People cut through, the grass dies off, and what was once a nice garden area starts looking more like a muddy problem than anything else. That's exactly what we were working with here - a high-traffic garden zone that needed a real solution, not just a quick fix.
We laid a step stone path using natural flat stones set into a clean gravel bed. The stones are spaced for a natural, easy stride so the path actually works the way it's supposed to. No guesswork, no awkward shuffling between steps. Just clean, confident footing from one end to the other.
The gravel surround is what really ties it together. It keeps the path defined, handles drainage, and gives the whole thing a finished look that holds up over time. We edged the path with soft sedge grass to blend the hardscape into the surrounding planting beds. It gives the space that layered, intentional feel - like the path belongs there rather than being dropped in as an afterthought.
A well-built walkway does more than just keep your feet dry. It changes how you move through your outdoor space and how the whole yard feels. Details like stone placement, gravel depth, and plant edging are what separate a path that looks good on day one from one that still looks good years later. That's what we focus on with every walkway we build.
